CPR and First Aid Program

Environmental Health and Instructional Safety (EH&IS) has been pleased to offer American Red Cross certified CPR and First-aid classes to the campus community for several years. In the past few years the demand for these classes has increased, making it difficult to schedule and manage this program. In an effort to meet the needs of the campus and continue to provide an effective and efficient service, we are restructuring the CPR and First-aid training program. The restructuring will provide increased opportunities for campus participation and allow EH&IS to better manage this service.

Beginning January 2006:

  • Adult, Child and Infant Class
    • EH&IS will offer one Adult, Child, and Infant class and one Adult CPR and AED class per month, that is open to all Faculty and Staff through the Employee Training Center calendar available through the campus portal. These classes will be offered free of charge to all University employees. If space permits, students may attend for $15. To sign up for classes, see the following instructions: https://training.fullerton.edu/instructions/
  • First Aid Class
    • Two First-Aid classes per semester will be offered to all Faculty and Staff through the Employee Training Center calendar. These classes will be offered free of charge to all University employees. If space permits, students may attend for $15.

  • Department Specific Classes
    • Departments can offer their own CPR classes by having department personnel CPR instructor trained. EH&IS will offer instructor training at the beginning of every semester through the Employee Training Center calendar available through the campus portal. Instructor Training classes will be offered for $75.00 per employee. The Spring semester Instructor training course has already taken place. Watch the Bulletin Board for information for a Fall 2006 instructor course. Registration will be done through the Employee Training Center.
    • American Red Cross instructors certified through EH&IS can schedule and conduct their own training classes. EHIS will provide the manikins and other gear required to teach the class. There will be a $15 per student charge for this service payable to EH&IS. University employees will not be charged.
    • Departments can hire a trainer through the American Red Cross. These classes can be arranged for $35.00 per student and paid directly to the Red Cross. See the American Red Cross contact information below.

  • Online CPR Training (Information will be distributed when this service is available.)
    • Starting this spring, the American Red Cross will offer on-line CPR Training. Students can call the Red Cross, pay $8.00 by credit card, and receive a password that allows access to the Red Cross on-line training. After passing the on-line training, students must pass a hands-on practical exam. A demonstration of practical skills is required for certification and will be offered by EH&IS twice a month once this program is established.

We believe these options are the best solution to providing American Red Cross certification to the Campus Community. If you have any questions, please contact Bev Berekianat bberekian@fullerton.edu, Co Wilkins cwilkins@fullerton.edu, or Melissa Dominguezmdominguez@fullerton.edu
