Employee Training Center

The campus has launched a learning management system that is named the Employee Training Center.

  • The Employee Training Center is 100% browser based. You can access the system and your account from the campus portal.
  • The Employee Training Center can manage and track all types of training - on-line, classroom, and off-site seminars.
  • The Employee Training Center allows managers to access, report and manage employee training records.
  • The Employee Training Center allows employees to access their training record through the campus Portal. Employees can review history, requirements and self-enroll into either scheduled or on-line training.

The Employee Training Center is currently offering Safety, ETD, and CMS courses.

Instructions for Macintosh Users

To get to the campus portal:

  • Go to http://www.fullerton.edu. The portal is located in the lower left hand corner of the campus home page.
  • Roll-out PC users on campus may also access their portal by clicking the START button on the lower left of your screen. There should be a Portal link on the START menu.
  • Roll-out PC users on campus can simply enter "portal" in the address bar of their Internet Explorer browser to be automatically logged in to the portal.

To sign up for classroom training:

  • Go to the portal, click on the "Training" tab. If you don't see the "Training" tab, go to "Profile" to activate the training tab and refresh screen. If you have any questions regarding the Portal, contact the Help Desk at x7777.
  • Click on the link "Employee Training Center". A new browser window will open. In the new window, choose the "Class Schedule" tab. This will show a calendar of training classes. All courses being offered are on the calendar.
  • Choose your class by clicking on the date you want to attend. Follow the on-line instructions.
  • You will receive an email confirmation with the date, time and location.

To sign up for On-Line Defensive Driver Training: (Not compatible with Macs or Netscape)

  • Follow the instructions above to the "Employee Training Center" link.
  • Click on the course catalog tab.
  • Select "On-Line" from the "Select Delivery" dropdown list right below the navigation tabs.
  • Locate the web based course.
  • Click the enroll link (on the right hand side of the screen) corresponding to the course.
  • You must disable your pop-up blockers for the course to launch. See disabling instructions below.
  • Follow the on-line course instructions and complete the program at your leisure.
  • If you have to leave the program, log off and the program will bookmark your last location.
  • When you return to the Employee Training Center, you can find the course under the "My Classes" tab. Click Start (on the right hand side of the screen) to continue the training.
  • In order to successfully pass the course and get credit, you must take the end of course exam and obtain a score of at least 80%. You will be advised whether or not you mastered the program.

How to disable your pop-up blocker:

  • Internet Explorer: Go to Tools, Pop-up Blocker, Turn off Pop-up Blocker
  • Netscape: Not Compatible
  • Google Toolbar: Go to Options, Browsing, uncheck "Popup Blocker"
  • Yahoo! Toolbar: Click Popup Blocker icon, uncheck "Enable Pop-Up Blocker"
  • Firefox: Go to Tools, Options, Web Features, uncheck "Block Popup Windows"

FAQs

Can I take online classes from home? This depends on your Internet service provider and the speed of your Internet connection. In most cases you will be able to take online classes from home if you have a DSL connection or an Internet connection through your cable TV provider.

How do I cancel a class in which I have registered? To cancel a class, go back to "My Classes" and click on Cancel under the Action category.

What if I am not able to enter the Employee Training Center?

What if I receive an error message when I try to register? Use your browser's back button to return to the page you were working on. Try to perform the same steps again. If you still get an error message, please take a screenshot and email it to Andy Olsson at aolsson@fullerton.edu.

What if my Employee Training Center data is incorrect? Contact Bev Berekianat bberekian@fullerton.edu.

What if I want to register for other classes that are offered? If the class is offered in the class schedule and has a link, you may sign up. You can also sign up for any of the web-based courses. Otherwise you must wait until the class is offered.

If I'm using a Macintosh computer, are there any limitations on what I can do? Yes, you will not be able to take online ClarityNet classes if you are using a Macintosh computer. Online ClarityNet classes can only be taken on PCs running MS Windows and MS Internet Explorer.

Instructions for Macintosh users:

  • Use the Safari browser for best compatibility.
  • Online courses cannot be taken on the Macintosh computer. Online courses may be taken on any PC computer or optionally sign up for the classroom based classes.
  • To sign up for classroom defensive driver training:
    • Go to http://www.fullerton.edu to log on to the campus portal. The portal logon is located in the lower left hand corner of the campus homepage.
    • Click the "Training" tab. If you don't see the "Training" tab, go to "Profile" to activate the training tab and refresh screen. If you have any questions regarding the Portal, contact the Help Desk at x7777.
    • Click the link "Employee Training Center". A new browser window will open.
    • In the new window, click the "Class Schedule" tab. This will show a calendar of training classes. All courses being offered for the fall semester are on the calendar.
    • Select the "Listing" radio button on the "View Option" fields located below the navigation tabs.
    • Enroll into the class of your choice by clicking the "Enroll" link on the right hand side of the screen. Follow the online instructions.
    • You will receive an email confirmation with the date, time and location.
